Cancer Sucks.
Ok, I know you're saying "uh DUH Suzzy, we know that".
A year or so ago a co-worker of my husband died from cancer. She was in her early 50's and one tough lady. She had requested at her funeral that everyone wear "Cancer Sucks" buttons, so of course they did. Since my Dad died from cancer not too long ago, my son thought the button was important enough to wear around the house for awhile. Kind of a big F you to cancer.
If you've read any of my other posts you know that my Mom is dying from metastatic melanoma. Today we saw her primary doctor for the first time since her cancer spread.
I've been taking Mom to the doctor since about 2001/2002. Then it was for depression and some other vague symptoms that no one could connect to anything. In 2002/2003 Mom had a few episodes of passing out and she was falling a LOT. I took her to the doctor and after months of tests they still couldn't figure out what was wrong. She was "healthy as a horse" (that is such a stupid saying...do people say that in other parts of the country??) with the heart and bones of a much younger woman. But she was confused a lot and growing more confused everyday.
While we were trying to figure all this out my Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. He had a very successful surgery but died a few months later from the first course of chemo. Have I mentioned that cancer sucks? My Mom had been getting worse and worse but Dad's sudden death just completely changed her. Suddenly she couldn't find her way home while driving. Then it was more falls and more confusion.
It became clear that Mom couldn't live alone any longer and I had to make her stop driving. You can imagine how all that went over with her.
This post is long enough...I'll finish the story next time.
